Longevity

Professor Tatiana Eremina

PhD T Stebleva.

What is the average age for human beings? What will be the average age for human beings? Biologists believe any organism is able to live 7-14 cycles with each cycle is around 20-25 years. Therefore the human maturity is around 20-25 years and the life cycle could last until 280 years. However, we should take into account other important factors: human nature and psychology, his wiliness to live, his attitudes towards life.  Generally, since childhood people got used the average life age in 70 y.o. Once taken, this consideration sits in minds strongly influencing to our mood and behaviour.

Longevity is also dependent on educational level and social status. American scolars proved people left school under upper grades loose 9.3 years of their life as they are in a risk group for unhealthy living. Those people who have positive attitude towards life live longer despite to physical presence of age.

Yale University academics discovered calm people live 7.5 years longer than cholerics. This age difference remained the same after the researches considered sex, age difference, social status, family status and health. Pet is a good medicine for a lonely person prolonging his life.

People live longer in Japan compare to the rest of the world. In September 2010 there were 44 449 people overstepping 100 y.o. line. An interesting fact, there are more women than men among supercentenarians. The statistics shows every 2900th Japanese is a supercentenarian. Japan has the lowest percentage of overweight people (about 3%). Healthy food is the key element for Japanese and Chinese people. Generally their daily menu includes rice, vegetables, fish and noodles. Many Japanese eat only when they want to and stop eating when they are 80% full. Japanese people are less dependent on cars compare to Europeans. They consider walking as regular daily exercise.

The Great Britain accommodates 9000 people overstepping 100 y.o. line (every 6777th British is a supercentenarian). The number of supercentenarians may increase to 40 thousand by 2031. For example there were only 1000 supercentenarians in 1911 in the Great Britain.

Rapid growth of supercentenarians worldwide is considered to be linked with living conditions improving, food quality and medical services.

British scientists believe people can influence their lifetime by themselves. As an example, if you’d like to live long you must be born in Andorra. This country is number one in the world’s lifetime list.

Alternatively, if you follow the major longevity principles you may extend your life despite on your location. Just

  • think positively
  • look carefully what and how you eat
  • lose weight
  • learn and get educated
  • make friends
  • find you spouse

And remember, it does lengthen your life!
